How a teen gets a license in Arizona
- At 15 years and 6 months, apply for a Class G instruction permit (knowledge test, vision test, and parent or guardian approval).
- Hold the permit for 6 months and practice with a licensed driver age 21 or older beside you.
- Log at least 30 hours of supervised practice, 10 at night, and take the road test (20 hours, 6 at night, after an approved defensive driving or traffic survival school driver ed program). Or complete a high school or privately operated driver education program, which ADOT lists as "Road Test Waived".
- At 16 or older, apply for the Class G license. Restrictions apply for the first 6 months.
